Criticism is essential in every realm of activity. I is the feedback of shortfalls or errors that someone tells you from a neutral point of view. It points out where you need to lay your focus on and what your weak points are. Criticism is what brings something closer to perfection.
But then, that is about positive criticism. We Malayalees are famous for criticism. We criticize everything. There are even critics who have made it theirs life’s mission to be there at all occasions. They have an opinion, often counter opinion, to all that occurs at every corner of the globe. They would criticize the conduct of every event, marriage, party, even funerals.
The greatest thing of note about these people are that they often have no idea of what the whole thing is all about. They are out of their depths and they have nothing positive to say. It is but common sense that if you feel that something needs improvement you ought to have an idea of what is better. Not the Malayalee critic. He just sees everything and tells all who would listen that everything around is incorrect and that it compares unfavorably with all the similar things he had been part of. The likely fact is that he had never been in anything of any note and turns up only to blame.
There is a very clear psyche behind this. These people are truly worthless, they have nothing to offer and know nothing of what is going on. The criticism is just to hide his ignorance and pretend that he is the master of it all. Jealousy is another factor. Seeing something running well turns the taps of jealousy and envy in some, and drive them to do the most idiotic of criticisms. One thing they forget is the fact that the others around also see, hear and feel the same things as he does and have their own opinions to make.
Best way to keep them in place – ignore the babbler, forget his babble.
