Scales of Success

If only you could have some way to way to measure true success it might really convince you that you’ve made it. This is often the thought process of any active human being. I want to be successful and make my ideas work, and I’m an optimistic person so I envision success. However, those I am associated with want some measure that shows how successful I am. More importantly I need a reliable and convincing tool to measure my success.  This will be the measure that will have a quantum of measurement that shows me whether I am on the right track or not.

This in reality, depends hugely on the activity you are involved in.  It could be a commercial business, physical activity, social or personal pursuit, career achievement etc. And for each, the measure of success is the different. So it may be a bit difficult to define the measures as in one table. For instance, the measure of business success is often profitability, brand acceptance, employee satisfaction etc. However this would not be in the scope when it comes to measuring the success in a relationship.

However clearly the scale of success is heavily dependent on the end result that is envisioned. It is often measured after the end result is achieved and on display for all to see. Even in ongoing things like relationships it is measured by the time span. So sometimes the pathway period offers unclear scales and makes it difficult to decide whether we are doing well or not. Thus we are often denied of a way to see, with clarity whether we are on the pathway of success.

But clearly some measurement is required to give us some indication of the possibility of success in our endeavour. There needs to be a clear indicator on the pathway we are taking. And whether it needs course correction. Are there any way to keep a look out on the measures to implement to ensure our success?

One of the very first thing to do is to phase your program. Break the pathway into smaller phases and put bench marks for each. This would allow you to keep watching out for any slips that may occur enroute. This will also show you easier and better quality methods.

The second method is to get review form others. Try writing you own reviews and see where it differs from that of others. In most cases it will be the point they differ that you will find the errors or points of concern.

And finally seek your mind for the feeling of satisfaction. If you feel satisfied you are on the correct pathway, simply because whatever you are chasing is of your own making. It is your show.

Success in reality is nothing but satisfaction.
