Grievances

Being a family man, I am used to grievances. Being the head of the family ensures that you are at the receiving end of almost all the grievances and rightly supposed to find the solutions. Be it from your wife or your children, the cause could be anything and have roots anywhere but the solution has to be yours and delivered right on time. There are well and truly no excuses for you to hide under.
Family grievances can truly be nightmares if there are two sides to it and both sides are right there in the household. It could be a moment where you wish you were in some foreign land. It could well be a skirmish between your kids or an altercation between your wife and one of the kids. It can be truly bad when it is an ugly and wordy dispute between your wife and your mother. It surely doesn’t get any worse. Here you are the scapegoat, regardless of which side you take and nights without dinner are an assured promise.
Then there are those grievances of your subordinates. The modern trends which ensures them the status of co-workers and does away with the term sub ordinates however fails when there are issue that need solutions urgently. The co-worker status however does not give them the responsibility to find answers. This is the moment when they cherish the sub ordinate status and flaunt it everywhere, especially when there are questions from further up.
There us a great thing about being the taker of grievances. It gives you an insight into the mindset of the aggrieved. You learn to predict the inflow of grievance and sometime you can even gauge the severity of what has just started. In time you learn to have pre prepared solutions. And us you go forward, you become a master of the trade and are never flustered. However there are no circumstances that will save you from them, ever – at home or at work. And then there is the major question. Who do I take my grievances to?
In short, you can never have grievances……
