We understand that Your will is providence and nothing happens without Your approval. Not a leaf moves without Your bidding nor even the lightest of breeze move. In this we have sought our solace. We understand that what you do, you do so for our very best. And we all know that we that seek safety in Your Name are forever safe.
Even so it is difficult to fully let go of our anxiety, or the world around us when we can’t see evidence of all that you’re doing – when we can’t understand or see your purpose or plan. Today, we pause and remind ourselves of our dependency on you, for we know in our hearts that our circumstances and futures are touched by your hands.
Please my Lord give them that are suffering and caught in the crossfire safety. This is my earnest prayer. Give a bit of wisdom to those that start, promote and control there altercations. And Good Lord keep me and my dear ones away from such dangers ever in our lives.
This then is my prayer for peace
Today we see with no forewarning, the garnering of forces by those who lead us. Here, there, everywhere – we are led by men and women who consider themselves the deciders of our fate. Today thousands of miles away a great nation has drawn arms against another and the situation is such that, instead of advising prudence, the other great powers are taking sides. And abetting the violence. As I write this, nearly two thousand, maybe more, have lost their lives. They are not all men in arms. A great many of those living simple lives have been killed for no sin of theirs.
As we look at a forest we see all the greenery but not the individual trees. But when the axes are drawn, it is the fate of one tree or the other. All media speaks of the numbers affected. But the real loss is of real people and their loss is felt only by those near and dear. These numbers have blinded us and we forget the people that make up the numbers. We have forgotten that every time we fell and bruised our knees, your pain is the only thing that think of, not even the greater pain of the other person who lost an arm or leg, in the same mishap. We have forgotten that we are all only concerned about ourselves. And thus not befitting of His Grace.
Today we see, people dying and there is nothing we can do. We can sit in our laziness lounges and cluck our tongues and pontificate. Or else we can gather together live or online and pray for the safety of those caught in the middle, possibly the only thing you can realistically do. We can pray that those that start these atrocities rethink their decisions. And we can pray that never in our life times we will be forced to face, nor those near and dear to us. Probably the only prayer that you will pray with any sincerity will be the last one.
But do pray. Life is precious – be it Indian, American, Russian or Ukrainian.
