“There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Great relationships are built on two things- Honesty and Time. Every relationship stands firm on foundation of these twin pillars. Taking time to listen, being honest in your response. No relation can last if you have no time for one another or are dishonest in your communication. Even when your opinions differ, it is wise to voice it and time given for discussions to iron out the differences. And if the difference persists, it need to be parked until time show the right and wrong.
A relationship requires some or all of the emotions like care, love, respect, patience, interaction, in varying levels depending on the type of relationship. Relationships are varied. Family, friendship, romance, workplace relationships… They vary in nature, intimacy and depth. However all relations need appreciation of similarities and respect for differences. Differences exist even within a family, no two people are completely similar, even identical twins. This is a matter of paramount importance, even in the closest of relationship like family or romance.
There is a marked decline in the nature and depth of relationships. In this era of instant communication, we have learned to fake relationships. In truth we have isolated ourselves, even in the midst of crowded surroundings. Handheld devices have become our only true relatives. It has become common to see young men and women sit in groups, with not a word being said, all eyes glued to mobile phones. What should have brought us together has in fact driven us apart. It may not be an exaggeration to say that true relationships are slowly becoming a thing of the past.
